We have inhereted a Nortel Option 11c connected to an Octel 250. When Dial by name is chosen off the main menu the caller spells the name of the person he or she trying to reach - the problem is that instead of ringing the desired extension the call goes directly to the mailbox to leave a message. The Dial by Name mailbox is type - 30 Auto Attendant.
Any Ideas?

Does this happen to all the names, or just a few? If it is just some, check the destination mailbox sub extension field. If that is empty, it will not try to transfer, and it will go directly to the mailbox.

Does it pause before getting the mailbox greeting of the destination? If so, you may actually be dialing the ext, and it is failing, you just don't hear it. The system detects this, and drops the call into the mailbox. Try changing the Busy/Ring no answer and/or the Transfer Supervision setting and see what happens.

Are you sure the mailbox they go to for the spell by name option is a type 30? Or is the main menu a type 30

The problem is with all mailboxes and there is no delay.
The calls go immediately to the users recorded mailbox message.
I have tried changing the transfer supervision with no success.
I have not changed the busy/ring no ans parameter yet.
