Nortel Norstar System: Messages cannot be left

We have bought a Nortel Norstar system used. The voicemail worked at first With a lead message and then a followup message. Soon the voicemail message was led with the main message but followed by a automated message telling the caller to dial "0" or press pound for the directory (which was no help and sent you back to the press "0" or hit pound message). Anywho, we figured out how to make a CCR tree, and the message sounds great but callers cannot actually reach a voicemail box. I cant seem to find a vendor either, so HELP!
 
That message you are hearing is AA menu prompt under AA/Table/1 and first option.

As for mailboxes press F985 and record the number on the display, now go to each set in programming under Capabilities and change the Call Forward No Answer to that number/DN

No offense but this is exactly what happens when people try to install something without knowing what they are doing. I'm sure wherever your from you can find a Nortel tech online.

Thank you for the tips. We had a professional install the system....one of the cleanest jobs I have seen. However, programmimg the system is a bit of an issue. They were able to figure it out up until this point. As for the F985, how do I go about using this, curlycord? Btw, Mountain Grove, Missouri is the city. Thanks for the help!
 
Curlycord, I followed the steps for the extensions that are recorded on the voicemail. However, when you call, listen to the message, then hit the extension number, it says "the Operator is not available; exiting system".

This is when people press 0, if you get that for any other ext then you have an issue and do need a tech.
If just when people press 0 then you need to make sure the attendant is available under F982

One last thing to check is make sure vmail is turned on.
Log into F983 then press 4 and make sure vmail is Y or YES

There is a couple companies to your west (forgot City) that should be listed.
