Moving office and analog service. I'm trying to get my NORSTAR working with COMCAST and their ARRIS TM804 analog box?

The 66 block was left connected to ICS1 and ICS3 amphenols from the MICS 0x32 box. I'm trying to figure out the wiring for the Outside lines and StarTalk Flash box?

I attached a pdf documentation of what my closet looks like.

Questions? Equipment was just moved and now we are using a new company for service COMCAST with ARRIS analog box.
1. Do I need to reprogram my 0x32 to use COMCAST lines?
2. Do I need to program the ARRIS box accept the two 0x32 and StarTalk Flash?
3. Do I need to use the ICS2 Amphenol connector?
4. How do I connect the StarTalk Flash wires to the 66 block?
5. How do I connect the ARRIS analog lines to 66 Block?

As explained to this exact same question in another forum, this is Installer info. Please contact a local Nortel Tech.

If your lines were analog and still analog then they punch down to the MICS the same way as at the old site.

As for Startalk Flash you do not punch lines to it, you punch digital stations ports.
You should use the same digital ports it was plugged into at the old site or you may have to change some DN's.

Thanks for the info, I was not at the site when they took everything down and of course no pictures were taking like i requested. I was just making sure to try and ask the correct questions it's been a long time since I've installed one of these units. The last time was with a ISDN line.

I'm looking for a local Nortel support technician now. I'm close to having it all working just missing something. All 6 lines work internally.

Can you answer this Does the ARRIS box have to be programmed or think it could be my punch downs?

Any good links or how to for Nortel wiring?

All 6 lines work internally"

What does that mean?

Do your lines from outside (Arris) work or do you mean 6 phones work?

This Arris box is most likely just converting SIP (or other) to Analog.
Plug in a normal phone or test set into each port on the Arris box, if you get dial tone and can make calls then no programming required.

Click our FAQ's button up top on the grey bar then scroll down to "Wiring" to see the pinouts.

What country and city are you in?

thanks for replying back much appreciated!

All Nortel phones are connected and I can communicated between each of the phones internally meaning I can call any extension 220 - 230 internally.

All lines from the Arris box work when I test with analog phone.

When I connect a Nortel phone to Arris the phone does not get power but Arris box stay active.

I'm in the US West Palm Beach Florida.

Stupid questions just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly.

You: As for Startalk Flash you do not punch lines to it, you punch digital stations ports.
Me: What do you mean digital stations the phones?
You: You should use the same digital ports it was plugged into at the old site or you may have to change some DN's.
Me: All lines are working with previous extension internally, shouldn't have to change RN's?

Thanks again for all the info i really is much appreciated.

Ok Nortel phones are digital so they will not work.
This means its your wiring from Arris to the KSU (MICS)...see the guide in FAQ's as noted.
Your subject line suggests you were on a PRI yet the two cards in the KSU look like Trunk Cards but the picture is really small, if it was PRI then this changes everything including programming for lines and sets and voice mail and making sure you do actually have trunk cards.

The sets are Digital so that means they only work on the Digital Station ports on the KSU and not at home, or analog ports/lines etc.

If you do not put the voice mail back on the right ports and the voice mail takes on a new ext # (DN), press Feature 985 to see.
Then you need to make sure the Forward No Answer settings are equal to what Feature 985 reports.
Some techs put a name to a voice mail DN, look for it maybe then go into Maintenance and see what port that DN its on.
Tech also like to use the last couple ports for voice mail as not to make thinks messy where sets normally go.

I was thinking change the DN of what it might be now to what CFNA reports but I cant recall.

Try googling these two names in West Palm:
Your I.T. Department
or
Southland Telecom

Morning,

I was able to get the arris modem working. The lines I punched down to the left of the 66 block was wrong. I took a step back and carefully looked to see where all amphenol cables where actually punched down on the 66 block. I can receive and send calls from my Nortel system now. (O:

All of the replies have been very helpful and greatly appreciated! [thumbsup2]

It really is awesome I was able to get quick responses that was very helpful. I'm just excited that I didn't have to call someone in to pay. [smile]

today i'll be connecting the Startalk, was wondering if there is Feature cmd to determine the vm lines on the 66 block?

Thanks,

Just wanted to give an update on my install.

I was able to find the VM lines and connect the Startalk Flash cables along with accessing voice mails.

The attached pic is how I currently have things configured. DO I need to loop all the office phone lines to each main line?

Can I get a better understanding for Norstar MICS Wiring for DID trunks? Do I need to do any loops?

Again thanks for all the help much appreciated.

Time to read the manual or get a tech in.

I'm just about done and trying to make sure it's correctly done.

What's the best way to make all 4 lines work on all phones? I know I could pay a technician to get the answers but figured I try you guys once again?

Do I need to loop all lines to each station being used on the 66 block?

I can access my voice mail, make and receive calls, Just need to make all lines active on the phones.

My thought process after this hurricane has me thinking I need to reprogram the phones and don;t do any looping?

Greatly appreciate everyone responses.

Yes programming required.
