Comcast 5 lines connected to DS cards in Nortel MICS. When people call in they cannot always hear what the receptionist is saying but receptionist can always hear them. I think this is a Comcast problem on receive side, but naturally Comcast says everything is ok....I do not know of any parameters I can change to make anything better.

Any ideas. Swapped DS cards, 1-4 with 5-8 etc. Did not seem to make a difference.

tks

What about other users? do they have issues?
Is reception using a headset?
Have you swapped handsets, curlycords or the whole set?
Have you used a test set before KSU to check the lines?

The receptionist just use a phone with handset. Cord and handset ok. Can make some calls without problems on butt set and phone. Some calls calling party cannot hear receptionist but receptionist has no problem hearing them all the time. Some calls just dropped. I swapped the DS cards in the KSU. Have not heard back about calls.

Have you ever had DS cards where sometime they work and sometimes they dont on transmit only on all lines then clear up on several calls? System hooked to UPS. All users have same problem sometimes.

tks

Had the same issue with the cable company here with a Nortel 3x8. Changed the handset, cords, and finally the set. Problem still persisted. The client was moving in a couple of months so they put ujp with it. At the new location and new modem there was no problem at all.

Well all users is different then, no sense troubleshooting one set then is there?

I dont know Comcast but if its a cable company then yes could be the modem is not passing full voip.
When one way speech they say its a network issue, cable company in this case since no IP system or switches involved.

I had an analog Nortel M9516 at my Father's house with analog Comcast residential "IP service." Same exact problem, Comcast claimed my Dad had a problem on the phone end, but I plugged the phone in on a standard copper analog line and it worked perfect. Once plugged into Comcast's end, the line fades out, is choppy, one way speech, calls take forever to connect once dialed. Of course my sisters blamed the fault was my phone choice, wanting to put a sophisticated phone in his house.....Comcast really doesn't seem to be able to manage their own equipment. We rebooted their router, it worked a bit then went back to choppy service. The Phone is plugged right into the back of the Comcast router.

RLS, I've used a M9516 at home for about 15 years. A pretty sophisticated phone for its time. It has a built-in digital answering machine with 9 different greetings. Calls can be directed via the incoming caller ID to any of the 9 greetings. Telemarketers get the "special" greeting that begins "The number you have dialed has been disconnected or is no longer in service ..." [2thumbsup]
