Hi again all!

As many of you remember I've been trying to perform various backups of our option 11. I've had success but have yet to do any backups of Meridian Mail.

I have, however, found an old (1993) Nortel Backup Cartridge in the wiring closet: model A0390460. And very little information on what it is, or how it's used.

It has an interface that takes a ribbon cable, something like an IDE - perhaps with more pins.

Does anyone out there remember where this thing fits or how it's used? Any chance I could backup Meridian Mail with it? I don't see any obvious ribbon cables inside the cabinet.

There's no information (that I can tell) regarding how much memory is on it, or any specific details.

Thanks in advance!
regards,

for mail you will need a Tanberg SLR4 and 250meg data tapes i use imation DC6250 and a scusi cable that plugs into the scusi port on the mail card and the tanberg needs to be set to 1 at the rear.

i believe the cartridge you have found is from an old control card pre release 21,,, chuck it away....

That was used for the Option 11 back up somewhere around release 16 maybe 18 it should have went away if this sytem has been upgraded. What is the release you're running?

Hi all, thanks for your replies!

We are at VERSION 2111
RELEASE 24
ISSUE 24 +

so I guess this cartridge gets pitched into the trash!

Yikes, I haven't dealt with tapes in a long time! I guess there's no way to use disk or flash backup with ol' Mermail, huh...

Many thanks all!

Thanks Gibblett - thought you might say that :)

I should've gotten the hint when I realized it had components chiseled out of stone on the circuit board!

Thanks again all!
