We have an NORTEL Option 11C. The Meridian mail harddrive failed. We do not have the install tape. Can we install a Meridian Mail from another Option 11c with the install tape?

Not normally. The "other" system should have been installed with keycodes to match your existing system. You'll need a MerMail tape (with your current software level) and the keycodes for this same system to reinstall. Oh yeah, an other SCSI hard drive.
MerMail is EOL by the way. Oh yeah, if you have lots of money, you can upgrade your PBX and get a Call Pilot.

The critical requirement is the VoiceMail keycode for your current system. If you have this, then the VoiceMail Install Tape from other system has to be same release of software, If you have all this you can then re-install the Voicemail using the original keycode on the other systems hard drive.

The 2 above answers are basically correct.

To use another system install tape you need:

1: Your own Keycodes

2: You need the S/W version to be at the same issue eg: Ver 11, Ver 12. If the minor issue versions within the release are different I believe that it will still work.

You cannot use, for example, a Rel 12 install tape in a Rel 11 system.
