If this pans out, this may be the best thing going. Companies like this purchase struggling companies, make some leadership changes, and advise the struggling companies how to turn things around. Their sole purpose is to raise the struggling companies value, so they in turn can sell at a profit. Had something similiar happen when I worked for a major retailer. They were hurting, and were purchased by one of these firms. Minus changes at the exec level, all the underling employees kept their jobs and are still working there to this day.
IMO this is the better option, especially if comparing it to pieces being bought one chunk at a time.
