hi all,
i have a ES 2500 switch, i made 2 vlans on it plus the default one. i made one port member to all the vlans, then connect my linksys wireless router (also dhcp enabled) to that port, when i connect my PC to the switch in one of the 2 vlans it does not take an ip. also can not go internet.
i need the the 2 separate vlan can not ping each other but both of them go to the internet.

thanx.

That Linksys device won't be able to tag packets with an 802.1Q header unless they've made some substantial changes in their hardware since I last looked at one. You'll get DHCP in the native VLAN of the port, but that's it. Not to mention you won't be able to build DHCP scopes for the separate VLANs on the Linksys.

In order to route between VLANs you'll need a router of some type that you can build 802.1Q subinterfaces on, such as a Nortel SR1001, then connect that to a trunk port on the 2500. You'll be able to route between the VLANs via the router. With the proper routes in place on the Linksys, you should be able to access the Internet via those other VLANs as well, provided you can add routes to other subnets on that device.
