Sorry if I do not ask the question correctly but I new to Nortel (mainly work on Avaya) and have to preform a back up and shut down and start up.

I have been informed that our building is doing a emergency shut down and I have never shut down Nortel CS1000 with Callpilot. Does any have a simple document for shut process or redirect me to a manual that I could use this weekend to shut down Nortel phone switch and restart 12 hours later.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since my company is putting me in a bad situation with short notice.

First thing is make sure you do a Back Up of both systems. Do you have a maintenance contract with anyone? If so I would get them involved. Look over the 2 sites below they have a lot of useful information and easy to use guides. Also check the FAQ's on this site.

The golden rule here is to backup everything before hand. The Call Pilot should have a backup done across the network during quiet times onto another server.

The Call Server should also be done and this depends on the hardware type as there are different ways. Carry out more than one backup where its possible.

The Call Pilot should really be shut down in a controlled manner by shutting off the services in a particular manner and this applies to other applications such as Symposium or CC etc.

Also backup anything else that is linked to the telephony side of things.

As with all power outages, never switch any kit on until the power has settled. I would wait a good 10 minutes. Turn on the Call Server first and wait a few minutes. Your Call Pilot system might be in one of the Card slots and therefore let that boot up as well. You might have to reset it again if you can't get any answer from it.

You might need to reset any PRI links and therefore be logged into the CS1K system.

It all depends on what type of CS1K and Call Pilot you have. AC or DC switch, Cabinet, chassis, single group, multi group. If the system is maintained properly then 90% of the time it will come back online without doing anything. If you have a maintenance contract with someone I would get them involved.
