I am new to Octel system and Nortel and want to know if there is any way to create a vm box which can then handle a transfer to 96 patient rooms. We have a new building and the numbering of new patient rooms are 5th fl - 5101 - 5132; 6th Fl - 6101 - 6132 and 7th fl - 7101 - 7132 but those DIDs are not available so I want to find a solution that can let people call in to a DID which can give them option to transfer to these rooms. If not by Octel then maybe going to non DID 5 digit numbers, I do have 1000 range which is set for Spree codes currently if that can be used. Tried getting another block of DIDs from telco but nothing available. Any suggestions are truly appreciated.

why not use a dial by number subscriber menu in the Octel. I'm not sure what number that is, but you could do that.

"Please dial the room number now to be transferred.." Or something like that.

OK. I can look into that..but I need to assign assign a TN & an extension to those rooms in Pbx, so how does that work into this?

And if you want the extensions to match up to the rooms you could do 5 or 6 digit extensions. This opens your dialing plan up too. We do ours like;

00 SCR 5101 91 MARP
01 SCR 1851011 D MARP
02 SCR 1851012
03 BFS 012 1 07 12
04 HOT D 4 3353
05 OSN
06 SCR
CPND
NAME
XPLN 27
DISPLAY_FMT FIRST,LAST
07 MIK

This way your not burning a possible DID range.

EddieDuece, I don't have DID range to use, so how do external people ring that 5 digit extension if is Non DID? Is it easy to go to 5 digit extensions? Thanks.
