I've got a Nortel CP PIV card I need to test, but It's a smaller form factor than normal boards. Does anyone have the part number off the cabinet I'd need to use with this card? Any information is helpful. I've found a picture of the correct cabinet, but cannot make out the part number, and Google searches have been inconclusive.

NTDU63 if you are referring to the 1000E chassis (i think)....otherwise it's a core/net cage you need NT4N41AB AC power NT4N41DB DC power

You will need a pedestal, NT4N41 card cage and power supply. Either ac or dc with the appropriate 208v a/c input or 48 vdc. You will probably need a system utility card also depending on how much testing you want to do.

If you have not figured out all ready this is a lot of work and a lot of money to test this card if you do not have these parts all ready on hand you need and active core shelf.

Is a system utility card required for the CP PIV to boot? We ordered a cabinet, and I'm attempting to boot and test the CP PIV Cards, but when watching them boot via the console connection, they just keep rebooting. It looks as though it begins to boot, then but will reset.

not sure about boot up, but there was a problem with bad flash cards on Pentium 4 cards (FMD).

there is a date vintage that is know to be bad.

I use an old rack mounted CS1000E unit that was originally fitted with a Pentium 2 processor and a CD-Rom / Floppy drive. The Pentium 4 card works fine with it and its useful to test / check databases for large systems. I can supply a photo of what I've got if you want to know more?.

That would be great if you've got a photo! I'm quite unfamiliar with the Nortel large systems. I've currently got a CS1000e I'm running for testing 39xx series sets that houses a SSC Card and a few digital line cards. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

pretty sure you set the side on the sys util so pretty sure it wont boot without this

If I remember correctly the dongle goes on the sys util so i am pretty sure you would need it. You would probably also need the hard drive unit for it to boot off of also

We'll I've been wrestling with these for two days now and I cant get any of them to boot. I've attempted to reload the compact flash cards (hard drives) following instructions in the read me docs that are part of the software package I downloaded from Avaya. They begin to boot, and end up with an error that looks to be part of vxworks not being able to load a file. I've attempted to enter the BIOS and change the boot order, also changed the boot settings but still nothing. If any one has any idea's it'd be greatly appreciated.

Are you booting up using the installation software on a CF Card. There are many issues here. Try just using the make disk utility and don't put on the software. Let it boot up with the two bios files.

If you can't get it to accept "f" on boot up, then its probably the faceplate CF card.

Not sure what you mean by accept "f" on boot up. I'll post a dump of whats happening on monday.

Ok, a quick clear up. you will need the complete CP PIV set as 1. the dongle & side is set on the sys util card so wont boot without it. 2. the bootable flash will need the two files created after running the MKROMBOOT.bat & copying the 7 folders (Ithink its seven, but this is all detailed in the read me file). 3. on boot up if the processor likes/ reads the bootable RMD (CF) then it will offer you the prompt of boot form flash [F] or boot from hard drive {H] if you dont see these then either the s'ware is knackered or it doesnt like the CF, I have often found that it want a 512 mb cf so try using a previously supplied cf from Nortel/avaya as AVAYA dont support all makes of CF or all sizes.

Oh yeh, have fun
