Dear All,

I have a question regarding connectivity of Nortel Contivity 100 to a ADSL Internet line using PPPoE.

I have subscribed to a ADSL Broadband Internet line which is using PPPoE. The ADSL line is terminating on the ADSL Modem. I would like to connect 2 Contivity 100's to this ADSL line. Contivity A would be used for connectivity to HeadOffice and Contivity B would be used for Internet Traffic.

My question is can I connect the 2 Contivity 100s to the ADSL Modem using a Switch? Would this be a valid configuration for PPPoE?

ADSL Line - ADSL Modem - Switch - Contivity 100 (x2) - LAN

Or should I be using a Broadband Router as below?

ADSL Line - ADSL Modem - Broadband Router - Contivity 100 (x2) - LAN

Further, If I use a Broadband Router, do I need to assign a IP address to the Broadband Routers WAN port?

Thanks in advance,
Harish
