Have any of you guys seen a button mapping picture or document for all the Nortel sets from Emetro?

When doing a large BCM replacement (upwards of 200 phones) it makes sense to program the buttons for the sets during the initial programming phase instead of doing at set registration time (who knows if the way the buttons are labelled is the way they are programmed). I download all the info from EM and copy/paste into a spreadsheet to use for programming and all the button programming is there. Problem is, buttons 1, 2 3, 4 etc on the UCX GUI is not the same 1, 2, 3, 4 that Nortel uses. The 7310, 7324 and 7316e phones are most confusing, especially when they have KEM's added.

I do like how the button programming is presented by EM. Would be nice if Emetro could show them the same way but in the meantime, it would be nice if they just supplied a document that shows the mapping.

Has anyone actually done one that they can share?

I could be wrong, but keys are numbered bottom up and right to left (if multiple columns) - first the phone and then expansion modules (if any).

If unsure, there is an easy way to check - invoke F805 and press the button(s) for which you want to know the mapping.

I agree with ucxguy if the First Key Position is set to "Right bottom" in the Nortel settings. . I did some testing and IF the First Key Position in the Nortel settings is set to "Left top", then the FIRST button would be "Left top". The same goes for however you have the First Key Position set in Nortel settings. I used "Left top" as an example.

ucxguy's suggestion of using Feature 805 is the definitive method to finding out the button mapping regardless of how you have the First Key Position programmed.

Hope this helps and have a blessed day!

Folks, I too am having a button mapping problem. I am programming a T-24 and the buttons count bottom right and up, starting at 48. When Everything is fine except I cannot map buttons 44 & 45. It shows BLANK BUTTON no matter how many times I take them in or out of the system. The rest are ok, it's on 44 & 45. Ideas please anyone?

Hi ORPG

Dumd question - in Nortel settings page did u add the t24 kim under module type?

Yup. Took it out and added it again and no change (yesterday).

How are you trying to program the button 44 and 45 - from the phone, or via the GUI? What is displayed for these two buttons in the GUI? What features are you trying to configure?

GUI shows the buttons assigned; Phone shows BLANK BUTTON.

FIXED IT...KINDA.....IN THE NAME BOX 44 & 45 DID NOT LIKE LETTERS, SO I JUST USED THE EXTENSION NUMBER; THOSE WERE THE ONLY ONES I HAD TO DO IT TO. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, BOTH NAMES BEGAN WITH LETTER "F".

For those that care, here is what I was trying to get at.

If you only have 50 or so sets to do, this stuff isn't that big a deal. But if you have to do a system with more than that where every set has buttons configured differently, this difference is a real pain in the butt.......wish emetro would map them the same as the BCM does, or better yet, comes up with a migration program like they have for the CS1K!

OK, that didn't work out too well. It didn't look like that when I created the post!

I'll have to figure out a different way to input the data so it shows up correctly.

Sorry about that.

Just edit the post, select the section where you need the fixed pitched font and press Pre (preformatted). [smile] Preview should show you what it will look like when you post it.

I had no idea you could that. I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the tip
