The BCM has been a hybrid system since inception with both digital and IP phones.
SIP Trunks is best with Release 6
You may need an upgrade and also keycodes to have the SIP Trunk capability.
Look at the very bottom of the BCM FAQ page for SIP Trunks by assorted carriers
