I am trying to install a new GATM4 module into my BCM50, in an expansion cabinet. I left all dip switch settings at factory default, as required and have plugged the lines in. The module will not enable. It constantly says "enabling;" the first port says unequipped and the last 3 ports are disabled by user.

I have lights on the GATM (pwr is green, the other with the Nortel logo is flahing red).

Any ideas on how to get this enabled?? Thank you.

You didn't specify, so can we assume that you have an expansion cabinet license?

Sorry, yes I do have the exp port key code activated.

That flashing red means it's not getting the download. Recheck those dip switch settings and if they're correct, try a different module or just plug the cabinet into the second expansion connector and see if it will download that way. If all else fails, a hard reboot with everything connected might do the trick.

The switch settings look good. I tried the different expansion connector and the light turned green. Rebooted and it is enabling now. All lines have changed to "unequipped." I'll let you know how that goes. I still don't have a link light on the BCM.

Another quick one for you. Does it matter which port on the cabinet it is plugged into? I am in the "+" right now but I was in the other before (witht the 3 terminals).

Thanks for the help.

It doesn't matter which expansion port you plug it into for it to work but it will determine the trunk numbers.

Expansion port 1 would give you trunk numbers 65 to 68 with that module. You should be plugged into the third connector from the left for exp 1 and the 4th one for exp 2.

If you only have 1 expansion keycode licence the BCM only releases the 3rd lan port.. bus 5-6
If you have 2 expansion keycode licence the BCM releases the 3rd and 4th lan ports.. bus 7-8.

It's finally good!! I plugged back into the 3rd port, reseated the module (again) and rebooted (again). It liked all of that and is ready for use.

Thanks again.
