Hi everybody,

I guess this post is directed more to those who have a BCM connected to an E1 or T1 PRI *and* who have working caller id WITH NAME:

I've tested with two BCM 50s and one BCM 400 (all showing the same symptoms of this problem). When an incoming call comes in, the caller's number shows up fine but the caller's name does not. I know that only one or the other shows up on a phone's display but if there's a Name received, it will usually be displayed instead. In any case, I checked BCM Monitor and this is what I've found:

Under the Line Monitor tab, the incoming call shows up and the number is there but where the name is supposed to be, it just shows a '?' mark. HOWEVER, if I check the UIPs during the incoming SETUP stage I can indeed see a "CCITT Display" information element with the Name coming in on the line, in fact here's a link of the screenshot of both:

So I'm not sure what's going on here.... The reason why I'd like to see other people's incoming IEs is because I want to see if the CCITT Display element on your system (from an actual TelCo) has any extra characters at the beginning like the ones I'm seeing from Asterisk. As you can see in the pic, there are 4 bytes coming in before the Caller Name: 01 00 07 00 and then it's Ma Bell in Hex. I'm wondering if Asterisk is sending those first four characters and is confusing the BCM so it ignores it... hopefully someone with can check this and let me know if they also get these initial bytes.

Cheers! [smile]

Sorry! I forgot to mention at the beginning that these BCMs are connected to an Asterisk server via an E1 PRI (EuroISDN).

Oh just in case, I have also tried using the Facility IE to send the name and still no luck. But if this method works ok for you please let me know as well.

Interestingly, I'm not sure what the 9 bytes I have put in the blue square are for either:

Update: I have been told that the 8 bytes between the 9F and 8B bytes in the caller name facility IE are just encoding bytes. I've done a test without them and still no luck.

Instead I'm pretty sure there's something going on with the CCITT Display IE. Hopefully someone can chime in and shed some light on this.

Cheers.
