Hello,
We've recently installed a Nortel BCM 400 version 3.6, build 2.2c, BIOS 02.03.04 and use Norstar 7310's (1998 REL 19E) for the most part. We are running into some issues:

1.) We tend to get echoing on various calls, most seem to be long distance calls. The echo makes the person sound far away, though the person at the other end doesn't notice a problem. We've had the PRI and the T1 completely tested by the Telco and they assure us everything's fine. Any ideas on what else we can check? Are there known issues with echoing?

2.) Users complain that calls will get dropped and "normal clearing" will show on the phone. The abandoned call report doesn't seem to record these. They tell me it happens both when the call is ringing and a couple of times during the call. Any ideas on what I can check?

3.) Phone volume is now an issue whereas before the BCM the same handsets were fine. Especially when on the intercom some people come across loud and others normal. We can adjust the volume using the handset controls but it was never an issue in the past. Any way to regulate the volume system wide? Could the older handsets have issues with the BCM?

Thanks.

Do you show any errors on the alarm banner? Also double check that the PRI clocking is set to primary.

No errors are currently showing up. How do I check on the PRI setting?
The volume problem was corrected by setting the BCM to use the system to control the level rather than the handsets. This also seems to have helped with our echoing problem to some extent though the normal clearing is still occuring.
