We had an event that ended up being rooted in a port feeding another switch from a Nortel 5510 went into spanning tree blocking mode. We output all levels of logging to a log server and local log and received no syslog or local log entry for the event. I then too a 5510 to the test bench and with console on purposely uplinked 2 ports member from the same VAN to another stand alone switch. One of the 2 ports went to blocking. No local logging or even output to serial console. It seems there is no facility that outputs a blocked port? (you can stat it and see it blocked) Anyone ever look into this deeper?
