Nortel 6x16 software

I cannot get into the config mode of my 6x16. **CONFIG works, but it will not even register that I am entering a password. I have a spare 6x16 with an older software cartridge, and config mode works fine.

I guess my question(s) are:
A) are the ksu setting saved on the software cartridge itself, or in the ksu?
B) if I swap in the older cartrige, add 2 more lines to the system, and swap it back to the newer cartridge, will it retain my settings, or mess it up?

Sorry, I just realized that I posted in the wrong forum. I needed Meridian rather than Norstar.

settings are stored in the cartridge, open up the dr5 short out the cap to reset it. Then reprogram
