Excuse me but I am a total noob to Nortel equipment.
Here's my situation. We have a Nortel 450-24T switch which is stacked to 2 other switches of the same model. In the base switch there is a 450-1SX MDA fiber expansion module. On the module it says 1000Base-SX. This fiber connection goes to a server.

Now my issue. We have a Nortel 5510-48T switch that is stacked with a 5510-24t and we would like to move the fiber connected server over to the 5510 switch. I've ordered a fiber gbic(Model: AA1419013-E5-CDW) and an SC to LC fiber adapter cable(Model N458-001-62). When I move the fiber to the 5510-48T switch I dont get any link light. Not sure if there is anything that needs to be configured on the switch. Hoping there is someone who could shed some light on this.

thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly, the 450 MDAs didn't support autonegotiation, while the 55XX switches have autonegotiation enabled by default. Try disabling autonegotiation on the port the GBIC is plugged into, or if its easier check the server NIC and see if that can be set to autonegotiate.

One other thing. If autonegotiation is enabled/disabled on both ends, try flipping the fibers on the SC end. I suppose its possible you could have TX connected to TX instead of TX connected to RX.
