Guys,

I know I'm a Cisco Guy, but I also work with Nortel.

Anyway,

I know how to disable the STP from the User's Interface, but trying to do this from the CLI command.

I used,

(In Global Config)

spanning-tree stp 1 disable ( to disable the STP)

But I get the error message,

Cannot modify settings
Cannot disable the default STP group. I checked the group from the users interface, it's 1, so used one.

I also tried:

spanning-tree tagged-bpdu disable tagged-bpdu-vid 1

That went through but didn't disable the STP.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

that is the correct command, unfortunatly you cannot disable the default (1) stp group. Only addidional groups you create.

If you want to disable a particular port

no spanning-tree port ?? stp ?

That's strange, even though I can disable the STP from the Users Interface under the STP Group 1. Very weird. I was trying to get rid of the Normal learning, to Disable.

So I guess to disable each and every port? What about a range of ports like:

no spanning-tree port 1-48 stp ?

I remember trying to use the no command before but I'l have to try the port, or ports. The reason for this is for pinging each port rapidly then waiting for it to get an IP address.

I will give it a shot tomorrow Thursday since I have a day off from work.

Thanks for the reply...

Nope, that doesn't work, Andy88.

There's no options to select no, just the spanning-tree like what I referring above in the first post.

Maybe change the STP to 2? emmmmm but everything is done using the Users interface which I'm trying to avoid...it's faster using the CLI for me.
