We have a nortel 2380 security switch and we want to configure it as a DHCP server. Can we possibly configure the DHCP scope options with this DHCP server service in nortel 2380 security switch. We need to push some information like DNS & default gateway info. etc. with the DHCP offer messages originating from the 2380

thanks in advance

Hi,

The 2380 can offer dhcp addresses like a DHCP server. Although configuring and using a dhcp scope is no problem, it seems DNS and gateway options are not possible to set.

Keep in mind that using the 2380 as a dhcp server is not recommended by Nortel, only for a demo or tests you are running. It is no clear why it shouldn't be used in a production environment...

Regards

I believe the internal DHCP server is for getting IP info to the access ports if you wanted to put them on their own VLAN that didn't have DHCP for whatever reason.
