Nortel 2002i telephone

Trouble with the message waiting light continueing to blink after ring no answer on this particular phone.
I have another 2002i and it works fine. What would cause this uncontrollable message waiting light. I thought it was a phantom ring of an old line but the problem persisted.

patch it up to date

there has been issues with the mwi that was fixed with a patch

Thanks phoneguy610 for your help. Although, the trouble was caused by a phantom ringing line not appearing on the set. and the customer did not communicate the trouble and actually gave a conflicting report as the other phone was having the same problem. I assigned the 3rd line to appear on both sets and problem solved. Thanks
