I am reconncting the "old" NAM to an 8X24 at this customer's home. It has not been used for 3 years. Of course I don't have the passwrod. I tried the F985 and then a 9 to reset. I assume it would reset to 1020000 but it doesn't. I then try F983 and use the config password to reset the system... it asks the questions but stops configuring. What to do? What to Do? any suggestions?

DID YOU GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH THIS
Feature 985

The Display will read: "Set : ###"

Press "9"

Enter the following using the dial-pad:

R E S E T S M P S W D ( 7 3 7 3 8 7 6 7 7 9 3 )

The Display will read: "reset password?"

Press YES softkey

Press RLS

Your password will then be defaulted back to "0000"
for 2 digit extensions: Log: 120000
for 3 digit extensions: Log: 1020000
for 4 digit extensions: Log: 10020000

I did, but I can't get into the system using 1020000( 3 didgit system).

Are both the KSU and NAM at 3 digits? Mou may have a mismatch.

Since this appears to be a previously configured NAM you should go with Marv01's suggestion. For a 2-digit DN try 120000, for a 4-digit DN try 10020000. If you can login with either of these the first thing you should do is reset the NAM and then reconfigure for your current system.

The system (an older 8X24) is running three didgits. The voices mail (old applications module) was remved from a 3 digit enviornment. I tried the F985 then 9 and the code to reconfigure. It asks all the questions... starts configuring... then says "configuration stopped" or something like that. I do't have the original floppy discs.. Does anyone have a copy they can sell me? When tring that above procedure... not luck with any lenght password.

sounds like your software is corrupt. I had the same problem on a namII as well. Even reloading the systems cabibilities file and restore disks would not work. Had to send it out for repair. My vendor couldn't fix the problem either had to be rebuilt.
