I am looking for any information on the application to administer your Voice Mail system from a desktop.I believe it is called Voice Mail Manager Application. I used to use this application when I was employed with a company in 2003 and now I am currently looking for it to use with the company I am now with. They are using Norstar Voicemail, I think version 4.0. The person who was responsible for the phones and voicemail is very reluctant to give up that information and I was wondering if there is any information out there that would assist me in getting it.

Thanks

You mean Callpilot that is part of the norstar platform...it is web based administration and you need the application builder.

Norstar voicemail doesnt have the web based admin I dont think, the Callpilot for Norstar does.

You can get in through Norstar Voice Mail Manager if the NAM is on the network, if it's not on the network you go in through COM port B

You may want to move this over to the Norstar Forum

Thanks everyone for your replies. Let me make sure I understand. The CallPilot is a separate application that has to be purchased and Norstar Voice Mail Manager application is a standard part of the NAM as long as I can put in on my network?

the nam uses the program norstar manager but you need to know the ip address of the nam default 192.168.110.10 or similar
to change it you need iplite software and a floppy disk

you maybe able to get a copy of norstar manger from nortel it maybe so old they will give it away

the callpilot is a new voicemail system and is programed through a browser

How can I find out what the IP address is? So Norstar manager is a built in program? I was probably using Call Pilot at my old company, but this was back in 2003, so I don't know. Thank you for your answer.

voicemailmanager is usually installed in the nam as a host program
you need to have the client side in the pc to connect

to find the ip address of the nam you need the program iplite
on your pc it sets up a floppy disk to retrieve the info from the nam when you boot the nam with the disk in the drive
then you can read the disk (with the iplite) and see the ip address
then if you wish you can change the address and boot the nam with the disk in the drive and it will load the new address

yes it is a pain in the butt

the only other way to connect to the nam is throught the com port with dialup and a software to allow direct connect to the nam

oh and by the way the voicemail manager comes with the nam on the documentation cd

Thank you Fireeater for the information. Unfortunately, the NAM was installed a few years ago by a private contractor. He sent me a CD with documentation, but no software.. At our headquarters site it appears that we have a NAM , version 30MVL07 DR5 and voicemail version Star Talk 2.0.4L. Any suggestions. I believe that the versions at my newer sites have a new version, but maybe still old.

if you go into the feature 983
enter the normal password and then dial 44
this is the options menu
press view
and it should show you the ports activated then next
if it shows you nvm manager then the system has it
also if the nam is connected by a fiber cable and/or has a network cable it should have it installed

i'll have a link to the software you need shortly i have to zip them up
it is for nam 4.0 but may work on older models

Thanks again. One thing, when I press 983 and put in my log passcode, I get an admin menu with MBox, AA, Othr and I can't get to an Options menu. When I push 44, nothing happens.

if its an older system it may not have that function
sorry i don't have older software in office to check only have 4.0
check in the faq section (in the nortel:norstar systems forum) it has info on connecting to other voicemail
