I'm not a tech professional, just the admin assistant for a small nonprofit. We recently had our phone system replaced with Norstar T7316e. We really need our call log feature to work on our phones, but I ask our off-site phone guy (who installed the phones) for help and he says he'll get back to me. He must not know how to do this, because he never gets back to me. I thought maybe I could figure it out, with help from some tech pros? When I dial Feature 812, I get a "no log assigned" message. So my first question is, how do we get the logs assigned? Does something need to be installed that only our phone tech could do?

Thanks for any help.

Yes its tech side programming when it comes to lines and eeven admin side you would need training how to access and navigate programming and where to go.
Call another vendor whom gets back to you in a timely fashion and actually wants your business.

Thank you. Coincidentally, after writing this post I was able to get our guy in here, and he set up our call log space.

He came in and set up the call logs, and left me instructions on how to activate on each of our phones. Unfortunately he left before I could test it. I activated my extension and selected "log all calls"...quickly got a message indicated I had new calls logged, even though nothing rang to my phone. So it is logging all calls coming into the system...not my extensions.
Any ideas, I'm calling him to tell him, but ideas from you all might be quicker.
-I've changed my selection from "log all calls" to "no autologging" in the meantime.

Log all calls means just that, system calls.
Choose another option like unanswered calls which would be the norm.

There are two logging optional settings in Config programming.

One in Terminal & Sets > Teleco Features > Lines

There is also one in
Lines > Telco Features > Logging Set
This will cause all calls to be logged to a phone whether the line rings or not, regardless of the logging option you have chosen on your phone.
