It will be fine for days and then suddenly start restarting for no apparent reason. It is plugged into a UPS. I have found the following codes but when I looked in the logs.

EVT 680-01 S9
ALM: 51-02
ALM: 51-08
ALM: 50-09
ALM: 50-07
UTAM code req'd
EVT 287 S8
EVT 287 S8
EVT 462-01610101...

I tried looking them up but they were mostly vague references to possible problems. Any clues on what might be causing this?

Thanks!

Try running it without the ups for a few days or put it on a different one.

Event code: 462
Reset:
No

Description:
System Shrinkage. Corrupted data set to default

Action:Customer Data must be reprogramed.

Event code: 287
Reset:
Yes

Description:
Internal software detected an error.

Action:
Record information from the restart tracebacks, including RTP tracebacks in a North American (DR1 to DR5) system, then contact your local support group.
Alarms are just lost power on trunk and station module.
Its been a while but you may want to do a startup and reprogram from scratch...What rel is software

6 months until ski season starts...sadly i must resign myself to the warmer weather"this will include a normal 8-5 work day, 5 days a week"

Thanks!

I was trying to avoid reprogramming the system. But it went completely down and when I rebooted it came back up with a date of January 1, 2001 so I didn't really have a choice in doing so. We had an outside company come out to help but we are also replacing the software card and the cabinet. Everything is up and running temporarily until we get those replaced. Then we will reprogram it again permanently.

would just do a startup and go from there, all points to software corruption

????(Description:
System Shrinkage. Corrupted data set to default )????
what system? is this is it a mics?
if you down grade or down size a mics it will go to default and reset the system ID
could you possibly have a bad power supply on one of your expansion mods or a faulty expansion card.
are those codes pointing to a module? if so I would look there
powering down a system and rebooting should not loose programming.

IT is pointing to corrupt software and next step is a startup and reprogram.
Alarms are from sys rebooting.
Think of it like when csu/dsu reaches a error thresh hold and causes a T1 to burp

Thanks for the input, everyone. We ended up reprogramming the system from scratch and everything worked great for a week. Then it started rebooting again. The replacement software card and cabinet are in so hopefully that will take care of the problem.

Just curios ..Did you do a start up or just reprogrammed after it did a reset???
Startup usually clears any corruption

Pretty much retired from telecom and now grow and sell perennials from April-November and Ski from Nov-April

We did a startup but are still getting the system shrinkage error.

It's version 7.1 of the software. I will have to check the system type.

curlycord,

When you say the expansion card being the problem, what are you referring to? I've mostly worked on servers most of my career so this is kind of new to me. The system has 2-6 port fiber cards and 3 cards for the physical phone lines. There is also an expansion module that holds on of the cards for the phone lines. We have tried replacing the expansion module but that did not help. And there is also 5 or 6 smaller expansion modules that handle the extensions.
