Norstar Startalk VM No Features

I have a 8x24ds dr3 with a startalk v1.7 card and v2.1 that i cant get to connect to a KSU, but the v1.7 does. I have the startalk linked to a port but there are no features that i cant get to work. When i try to dial the extension I get a fast busy signal with a not in service on the display. I also try to remove the features from the XFTEST function and try to reboot and nothing comes back. Its a used unit off ebay and when i first connected it i was able to login and it was working and now i dont know how to get it back to default specs. there are no features that work so how can i get it back to default and login so i can activate the features, i have experience with the phone systems so if there is extra stuff i need to do please help.

You need to activate 1.9 and up via F906 and just say OK to the feature codes then F983 will come alive.

What Curly was trying to say is any Flash over 1.9 you must start with F903 to select the feature range you want (high or low). BTW You can't call a voice mail port.

The Flash is not compatible with DR3 software. You must upgrade to DR5.

So if it's not compatiable then how come I can see it in the maintenance menu ? Let me understand this, once I remove features using the xftest and then reboot it they will be there. I have a v2.1 card how can I activate that to try it ? Also how long should it reboot to do the self test cycle ? Thanks

DR5.1 is the latest if you can get your hands on it.

You got lucky the first time it came up because it is not supported on DR3. It's better you find out now while hopfully you're testing and not after installed.

The old Startalk boat anchor is compatible with DR3. That's probably why the 824 sees something on the port, but can't "talk" to it.

and sometimes you will find that the vmail appears to work but not all features hence "compatibility".

I'm looking for a dr5 cartridge for my 8x24 DS and there are a few of them on the ebay with different item #'s. Does anyone know the best item # for my system.
