Is there a way to initialize a StarTalk from the Maint term screen (RS232)? It looks like its running fine and passes all of the tests, but the 824 DR5 KSU does not recognize it.
Any Ideas?
The 185 Maint and Repair manual does not list a procedure.
It refers you back to reset procedure from a set.
Sounds like you may have a DN length mis-match between the two. Do you know what the Startalk DN length is, and can you change your Norstar length to match it?
Just a thought.
Chart shows that your Startalk should be at 2.04L, but yours might work anyway. Nortel gave free upgrades to 2.04L for Y2K issues.
Do you know what the DN length was set for in the STARTALK?
Do you have the Startalk connected to known good station ports?
The StarTalk is set for 3 digit DN. This was removed from service and working. It passes evry test on the RS232 maint program. The 824 is set for 3 digit also.
It seems like the maint program would detect a problem, does it to you?
If it is the test that I am thinking of, it tests 5 things,
IRQ interrupt
T8 Signal
Toggle Signal
Clock/Calendar
ADPCM chip test
I don't think it actually tests to see if you have connection to the Norstar.
you could try it by disconnection your ports and see if it still passes.
Does it let you access the lop level menu with the password of SYSMGR
