Hello this is my first post and I am praying that someone has had this issues and can help me out. I have a norstar-plus (NT7B53FA) connected to a easy on hold usb mp3 player. My MOH has been working fine for a while and about 9 months ago I started to notice a crackling sound and sometimes a hissing sound, but only when someone is put on hold. When i use the music on an office phone (feature 86) it sounds perfect. I replaced our previous MOH player (ipod) and bought a easy on hold usb mp3 player because i read a couple places that you should have your MOH output @ 600ohms. After replacing it sounds no different.

I have researched this for about 3 weeks now and finally found someone who said right away that its my MOBO in the PBX. He said he has ran into this problem a couple times. Has anyone ran into this situation and if so, what was the fix? I just want to make sure that this fix sounds reasonable. Thank you in advance for any help.

Yes sorry, it was recommended that I replace the KSU, I apologize that's what I meant by MOBO. Has anyone heard that the KSU could be working fine except for the hold music? Like I said feature 86 sounds perfect and it is from the same player. However when you get put on hold calling from an outside line it sounds terrible.

Try turning off MOH and make a test call.
Also try lowering the volume on your music source to see if quality improves or not.

Yes I have turned off the music service and test called using no tones and tones and both sound fine, no static. lowered volume as well, even went through all audio tracks and converted to mono and lowered and raised compression and bit rate. Nothing I do seems to work, that's why I believe it just needs a new KSU but wanted to get some second opinions. Thank you!
