Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to get outside calls coming from our AA or transferred from our secretary to actually make it to a DN's voicemail. Internally our VM works, I have everyone set to fwd on no answer after 4 rings, and I have changed Transfer Callback to be more than 6 rings so that it does not interfere with the Voicemail. But when outside callers are transferred or they dial extensions directly, it rings the DN 4 times then stops (as though it hit the voicemail). At this point it will continue to beep for the caller and eventually Transfer Callback kicks in.

I'm guessing this is something that needs to be done through routing, I'm not familiar enough with this system to figure it out quickly though.

Thanks

Nevermind. Solved. DRT to Prime changed to : NO -- fixed it.

Okay, so now I came in this morning and called the main line, got the AA, dialed an extension, and it once again is not forwarding to voicemail and instead goes to the built-in prompt for dialing extensions and leaving voice messages if you know the voice mailbox DN.

you might want to check and make sure that voicemail is enabled from the main menu.
Do f983 and password and then press 4 and make sure it says voicemail enabled.

Thanks for the help. I just checked, it is enabled unfortunately. I noticed that ATA settings on the lines were set to 3, I changed them to 7. Still goes to AA after 3 rings, which makes absolutely no sense. There are no settings anywhere on the system that are lower than 4 rings other than the voicemail forwarding currently, with the exception of the initial AA answer being set to 0 rings.

Since it was working yesterday, I'm assuming there is some sort of bug here.

I have everyone set to fwd on no answer after 4 rings"

Just changing rings count wont do.
You need to point the forwarding to a DN, in this case voice mails DN....press F985 to see that DN then enter that same DN for each set.

The forwarding is pointing to the VM DN on all lines. I have rebooted the system as well. I'm assuming this has to do with the bug in NAM version 4, which is what is installed on this machine. I"m looking for a floppy to do the patch.

You don't say your system version. If you are running a MICS 5.0 you must install the redirect patch in the NAM.

Yes, it is MICS 5.0. I'm going to try the patch at some point today.

Thank you all for your help.

I tried loading the patch, unsuccessfully. I formatted a 3.5" floppy as an MS-DOS boot disk, copied over the autoexec.bat, command.com and redirdn.exe files onto the root. When I reboot the phone server, it beeps, reads the disk for a few seconds, then I see an error code on it, I think it was F7 but it was late on Friday and I could be wrong. It never fully boots after that point (operator phone rings/answers, but other services are not running).

I will try it again and see. Thanks for your help curlycord

Okay, this time I made an MS-DOS 6.22 boot disk from an image and copied over the batch and redirect patch executable. Intially I just formatted a dos boot disk on an XP machine, that was my problem. This time I got the series of tones indicating that it patched the NAM. Rebooted the server. Now voicemail redirects properly!!! Thanks to everyone that helped.
