First can anyone tell me if thier is a standard procedure for programming E&M cards? The manual is very vague on installing the card.

We have a Norstar with MICS 7.1 firmware. In slot 2 we have a 6 port Fibre Expansiobn card and in slot 4 we have a line card installed. In port 6 of the fibre card we have a fibre cable going to 2nd Module (8). In slot 3 of module 8 we are trying to install an E&M card NT58389A-93 which the system refuses to see. We have swapped the E&M card with a line card and the system seen it. At one point the system did see the E&M card but once it was disabled and then re-enabled it no longer sees the card, prior to disabling the E&M card we tryed several other cards to verify they were good in which the system seen the cards. We then tryed to re-enable the cards but the system keeps showing the slot is empty. Is there something that I am missing here. Thanks for all your help

Did you go into Hardware and change the card type to E&M?

Hawks
we have gone into hardware and set it up as a E&M Card

Ok I'm lost:
Have you verified that the E&M card is a good card?

Here is a link to a diagram on wiring the cards and below is how to test

Test dial tone from Norstar

Connect butt set across T & R the transmit pair. Leave butt set in monitor.
Place short across E & SG.
Dial tone will be heard in the butt set. If a set has a line appearance of the E & M line the line indicator diamond will come on steady.
Test dial tone from Network

Connect butt set across T1 & R1 the receive pair. Leave butt set in monitor.
Place short across M & SB.
Dial tone will be heard in the butt set.

Back-to-cross-connections 1st circuit T R T1 R1 E SG M SB
2st circuit T1 R1 T R SB M SG E

We know the card is good because it did see at first until we disabled the card then we tryed to enable the module and in the hardware it does not see the card anyb m ore to change it to an E&M Card

why slot 3 of TM - move it to slot 1
Disable in Maint
Program Hardware
Enable
Reboot the system
