Hello All,

We just move to a new location and inherited a norstar system which we're currently using. This is what we have:
Norstar Application Module 3.0.
KSU 3.0 with 6-port expansion in slot 2 and LS/DS in slot 3 and 4.
One trunk module (12x0) with LS/DS in slot 1 and DID in slot 2 and 3.
Two station module (0x16) and two ASM. I believe we have 12 trunk and 8 DID lines and these are way too many for us. Any way my questions are:
1. What are line numbers for DID and which ports are associated with all 20 lines. I just know the first 12 lines which are 1-4, 25-28 and 49-52 . If we decide to trim from 20 to 8 lines ( 4 for outgoing and 4 for DID), do we need to reprogram or just disconnect from wiring block. Also does it affect current DID users?.

2. How do we set up and program a new extension?.

Greately appreciate all the helps and thank you in advance.

the DID trunks are 57-60 for card 2 and 65-68 for card 3

If you are going to drop lines from telco your only "requirement" is to remove the lines, in programming, from your active line pools. for neatness on your wiring field removing the cross connections is a plus but not required for operation.

the easiest way to progam a new extension is to copy the station, in programming, of one that is set up the way you want the new one to be (rings and lines etc). If that dosen't work out let us know and we'll get you step-by-steps as you need.

Hello JerryReeve,

Thanks for your help. A little confuse, why does line number jumps from 52 to 57 and then from 60 to 65?. Also, I am in learning process if you don't mind showing me the step-by-step procedure.

Thank you once again.

the jump is because the trunk mods are set up for DID,CO, or BRI cards, there are 8 possible trunks on a 4 port BRI card so the programming is set to allow that many ports on every card slot, just like they have the first two trunk slots set up for 24 ports on the main module itself.

so end result is 1-4 in use with a ls card, 5-24 reserved, 26-29 in use with a ls card, 30-48 reserved, 49-52 in use with a ls card, 53-56 reserved. 57-60 in use with DID card, 61-64 reserved, and 65-68 in use with DID card, 69-72 reserved.

Hi Jerry,

One last question. Can you show me the step-by-step instructions on setup a new extension?.

Thanks and appreciate all your help.

Hello Jerry,

How do you remove lines from line pool?. I tried ,but not success.

Thank you.

as far as setting up station ports I suggest that you go to programming on terminals and sets and look at stations that are already working the way you want them to and see how each is programmed. then you can reate a new station with the features that are in place at your system. Copy, while it starts off well, may have some hidden functions that are copied, I avoid copy when working on a system that i didn't set up.

Thank for all your tips. Can you assign a new ext to a existing port, for example, I have port 173 pairs with ext 2634 . Now , I want assign 2644 to it , how do I change it?.

Thank you in advance.
