Norstar Cics 2

i have a new Norstar CICS with 7.1 software and cid card. This is the BT version cabinet and software that was made for Great Britain. i installed one of these last week with no issues but this one will not stop flashing and give me time and date so i can enter into F**STARTUP. Please help.

Double check its CICS and not MICS software
Make sure its fully inserted into the CICS.
Is there a Line card in it?


Is it new or did it have other software in it at one time?.
If its trying to jump from old software without using upgrade tools you might have this issue.

My thought as well that this previously had old software installed. Try using a R6 software card and see if it comes up. If it does you can then use the R7.1 card.

yes it is cics software 7.1 and we have changed the trunk card and we have even tried bringing it up without a trunk card. would it complicate anything to put some old 2.0 or 3.0 software in it to see if that is the problem.

If it comes up with the R2.0 then do a STARTUP. When the display shows "Applying template" count to 5 and then pull the power cord. Then put in the R7.1 software card and power on. Give it about 10 minutes to reconfigure, but it will come up unless the software card is bad.

Thank you curly cord and exsmoogger i really do appreciate your help. i am ashamed to admit it but i was letting one of my newer employees do this for me and he did not have the software fully inserted. But you gave me very good information.
