Norstar 6x16 external mailbox access

Hi,

Our company has recently purchased a Meridian Norstar 6x16 unit and the startalk unit.

We have set up voice mailboxes for the relevant people, but we are having problems accessing the messages from outside the office. When dialling the office number we press ** and then the mailbox number and the password for that mailbox, but it then goes straight to recording a message. We can't seem to access the menus when dialling externally.

Any help would be much appreciated

the conditions you describe sound as if the first * is not being recognized. If you just dial one * and the mailbox and password followed by the # then you would go directly to a tone to leave a message. Are you hearing the prompt
"please enter your mailbox number and password followed by number sign" when pressing ** ?. If not then the system is seeing only one * for some reason. Do you hear "please enter mailbox number", instead?

When dialing the ** allow about 1/2 second between the pressing of the * key. Listen for the mailbox and password prompt as suggested above.

Hi,

I just tried out those tips and I still get the same problem. I will describe what I do.

Dial number and automated attendent picks up the call.

Hit ** and I hear "please enter the mailbox number or press square to use the directory". If I press * again it takes me back to the automated attendent.

I tried pressing * at varying intervals but those were the only two prompts that I could get from the system.

Could it possibly be that the voicemail isn't set up properly?
