I am in the process of making a DVD of a wedding, but I have found that the after-ceremony speeches are very quiet, whereas clapping during the speeches is loud.

Due to the number of times there is clapping or laughing (about 80 times at a rough guess), I do not particularly want to razer each segment out and normalize them individually.

The audio quality does not have to be excellent, it is just required that the speeches must be heard.

Can anyone help me with this?

You could use the audio workspace to show the audio palette controls and adjust master output volume on the fly by reference to the VU meters.

You could also put a dynamics filter on the audio track and adjust your compression and expansion to make it all the same level..

Thanks to you both for replying.

I ended up using a compressor and boosting the gain to suit, as reccomended to me by a user of another forum.
