chvg -B Changes the volume group to big vg format. This can accommodate up to 128 physical volumes and 512 logical volumes. I think I need to do this in order to add some new drives to an existing volume group that has hit its limit.
I have the process mapped out, I am just wondering if there are any catch 22's with using the big VG? Anyone have any experiences or now of any rumors, myths, etc...that have scared you off of doing this? I only ask because it seems like all new volume groups would use the 'big VG' format by default unless there was a good reason not to.
I know there is a backwards compatibility issue with v4.3.1 and lower...is that the only deal breaker for this?
-thanks
