Hi!

I've just installed a RedHat Linux v7.1 and when trying to ftp or telnet from another machine I do not get any answer.

I believe that I indicated to install them both at the beginning, but how can I configure them?

Regards,

Yes you can.
go in to the /etc/xinetd.d directory
you will see the file ftp and telnet
set disable to no on both file
disable = no

restart the xinetd
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart
It should work.

I suggest leaving them disabled if this server is dangling out to the public. Use openssh instead, it is far more secure.

Thank you. My sever is inside my LAN, so there is no much risk (I hope).

One question:

+ Wich are the most remarkable files to configure both services (TELNET and FTP)?

Regards,

I am having the same problem as cadbilbao but i don't have the ftp file in my xinetd.d directory. what do i have to do to enable ftp?

My question with this is, what did you set your firewall to when you initially set up your server? And how would you then change those settings?
