Hey,

I am a Crystal Guy, so please be gentile!
I have an RDL file which I was told is the report file. However, when I open it I get .xml. How do I get the UI to show the RDL as a file w/ boxes, fields, lines, colors, etc, instead of xml?

Thanks!
Ed

rdl IS xml (kinda)

You need to open Visual Studio / BIDS and create a Report Serve project (from the Business Intelligence options)

you can then right click in the "reports" folder in the solution explorer and choose Add>Existing Item. Navigate to where your rdl file is located and choose it - it should be added as a report. Once you have it in this area, you can double click on it to open in design mode

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.
