You need to check setup option when your burning the CD's and make sure that you select finalize CD or finalize. once this is done you will be able to play them on other machine's and in your car CD player if you wish

CDRW's can be a problem anyway! not ALL cd players recognise them so you just need to be aware of that.
But yes, you need to finalise you write session, just a case of ticking a box, then all will be fine. Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!

well thanks to both of u, but..

the manual states that cds can, and cannot, be read on another machine

can, is with the same software installed on other machine
cannot otherwise

<actually it says they can be read with no proviso in another place too>

so im thinking get roxio software, any advice?

Roxio (Adaptec) Easy Cd Creator and Direct Cd work great. To read a CD-RW on another computer you need to load a UDF reader on that computer to be able to read Roxio's UDF format. You can download it from their web site.

Just about every CDROM 8x or faster drive (in a pc - not talking about cd players here) should be able to read CDRW media assuming they're of good quality. Sony should work fine. I've never had a problem as long as I close the session. You don't necessarily have to finalize the cd, just make sure you don't leave your session open. You're just making a data cd and trying to read it on other pc's right?

If so, you shouldn't have any problems. At least I never do. The only time you should have problems is when you start talking about standalone cd players...
