Both sidekick2 and 98 are now sticking at the copyright block which appears at the start. All I can do is close. It works on Safe Mode. Any ideas? Windows XP only- I've done the 'send a report' bit to Microsoft but doubt if they'll have much interest in Sidekick

Dear jimalex,
Have you tried starting Sidekick without any other program running(i.e. Closing all other programs in Task manager)?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I'll give it a try. I note from the FAQs that you've looked at several permutations and I've got a list from it. Incidentally, my download on W98 came from siderealb0x.250free.com where John O'Toole seems to be looking after Sidekick downloads and it has FAQs specifically for Sidekick.

OK Jim,
Good Luck and do please let us know how you get on as it helps us all to increase our knowledge, when someone finds the answer to a problem.

Still no result beyond the logo, except that Sidekick will often open after I have been on the net. Windows 98 remains OK: it is only XP that is giving me trouble.

I now have SK98 and S2 working normally. It was achieved by deleting Laplink 11 which does not work on XP. So not very technical, but I'm glad it's ok again.

Dear JimAlex,
If you don't mind, it would be a good idea if you posted your conclusion as a Faq.
You personally may believe it is not a very technical solution but I would beg to differ, as far as I can make out, it solved the problem and that is the achievment(and as far as I am concerned, the AIM)!
It is all the various permutations of programs and hardware that arise with computers which create the problems we come across, the more we illuminate those areas with insights such as yours and share them with our peers, the better.
You could title it:
SKW 2.0 and SK98 freeze on WinXP
and put it in the group:
2Sdk2/95/97/98/99StarfishFAQs
Once again, thanks for letting us know.

Hi Jim
