I have been using MS Project/Visio Gantt Charts off and on for about 6 months trying to firgure out the best solution. Right now I like the way project allows you to roll up your tasks and only see what you need to see. However I am having a problem setting the working/non working time. I am also having a problem with an equipment resource.

First I have created a custom calendar where I have set the working time to 600a - 1130a, 1230p - 500p. I have set my project defaults to 600a - 500p, 10hr workday and a 40 hr work week. All of my human resources have a 7.5 hr day. I have a temp chamber that is used from 500p - 600a.

Now when I look at my gantt chart the non-working time is still displayed as 500p - 800a. And all of my tasks that are forced to start on a new day start at 800a instead of 600a. How do I fix that.

Second the temp chamber as stated above is used overnight, however it wants to start at 800a and run for the duration (which should be 12-13 hrs). That usually puts the start of my next linked task to 1200p the following day instead of 600a. This also wastes an entire day because of the start/duration issue. I tried to set this resource up to have a working time of over night but it had no effect on the gantt chart. How do I fix this?

Thanks much

There are no stupid questions.
But the world is full of inquisitive idiots.
I do my share to make this true. :)

How do I fix that?"

The answer is, most definitely, *not* intuitively obvious.

Tools | Options | View-tab
Set "Date Format" to one that includes the time.
Project | Project Information...
Set "Start Date" so that the project start time is 6:00AM

See if this fixes the problem you're having with the "temp chamber". If it doesn't, let me know and I'll spend some time looking into it.
