Is there any way to notify someone entering an order(OE) that the item is non-stocked? I would like to put a message "This item is non-stocked - there may be a minimum purchase - check lead time" so that the salespeople can notify the customer.

We are on Progression 7.6.1 Pervasive.SQL. We have designer but not Flex.

Thanks
Celeste

I can't find any way to do that without using flex. It would be easy to do in flex though.

If you want some form of 'pop-up' message that the end-user has to acknowledge, then Flex is really your only option. Is putting **NON_STOCKED** in the second line of the description an option?

By non-stocked, I assume you mean that the stocked flag in the item master is not checked?

By this definition, an item number in Macola will not maintain a quantity on hand. This does not mean that you cannot physically have the item, however.

Conversely, you can never physically stock an item, yet the stocked flag on the item master record can be set to Yes.

There are two types of Non-Stocked.

1) Item is established in item master, with flag set to non stock. No message is provided on entry and is ususally a drop ship item. Flex would be required, or use Peters suggestion.

2) Item is "NOT" established in the item master, it is key entered free form in OE. A message is provided on the entry of this item. Additionally if you have the systems setup it will prompt you to create a PO to buy the item (create Purchase order from OE). The item is tracked on order reports but you don't have a consistant format to enter the item number.

Under item 1) above you could populate the PO minimun field in the item location record to catch these. Combine this with the OE to PO functionality in advanced distribution and this could be a very workable solution without resorting to Flex code.

The non stock items I am talking about are set up in item master with the stock flag not checked - some items would be purchased some manufactured(we have minimum qtys for an item to be manufactured as well). Is there a way to specify a minimum quantity on the order entry side?
