Non-Nortel IP Phones on BCM?

I'm sorry if this question is really basic, but I couldn't figure out if non-Nortel SIP-based phones like Polycoms work with BCMs (specifically, BCM50-R3 or BCM400-R4).

I'm trying to select phones and I need to figure out what my options are.

Also, I'm looking at the new 8800 series IP phones from Nortel. But I thought I had seen information about certain IP phones (ip2007?) that aren't compatible with certain BCMs or revision #s.

Are there any Nortel IP phones that are not compatible with a BCM400-R4 or a BCM50-R3?)

BCM does not support SIP phones.

BCM 450 supports IP phones (which use UNIStim) from Nortel. You cannot connect SIP phones (from Nortel or anybody else) directly to it.

I see that on a rls 3.0 BCM 50 there is a keycoded component called SIP devices - is this not for 3rd party SIP phones?

BCM 400 4.0 supports the following Nortel IP-based phones:
- IP Phone 2001/2002/2004/2007
- IP Phone 1110/1120E/1140E
- WLAN Handset 2210/2211/2212/6120/6140
- IP AudioConference Phone 2033
- IP Softphone 2050 (v2)

BCM 50 3.0 and BCM 450 1.0 also support:
- IP Phone 1210/1220/1230

In all cases above, the phones are using UNIStim for their signalling with the BCM.

They are SIP based phones. They will not work. They are probably designed for the SCS.
