Hi everyone,

I am working on a MICROS server and am migrating from one PMS to another. In trying to connect to the new system's interface (they use COMTROL) it was mentioned that my MICROS server is talking in Fideleo's language, while it should be using "standard Micros POS protocol".

The ISL files I have seem to be Fidelio related, and I don't have any others. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree... any advice?

Thanks!

Are they wanting you to communicate over TCP/IP or COM? SIM files will always communicate in the same message format over TCP/IP and require that you have a SIM file controlling things. Over COM, from what I remember, you can set it up to just use a standard interface they have. There really isn't a 'fideleo language', its just that when the SIM sends messages it sends messages in certain orders. Like my SIM might send add,2,3 to tell the PMS to add 2 and 3. The message format doesn't change, just the content of the message format. Another PMS wouldn't know what to do with that message. Did they provide a SIM for their interface?

Expecting to comm over IP. I went over this with the tech from the new PMS company I am using and they said that something relating to Fidelio needs to be disabled on the MICROS server in order for it to be able to talk.

Does Fidelio have a specific SIM? Do you know of/is there such a thing as a generic MICROS SIM that is standard?

I think maybe there is a standard PMS software that can be installed, but honestly.. I would question continuing to work with a vendor who doesn't know how to install and configure every part of their integration. Hopefully someone else knows more - I don't often deal with the Fideleo stuff as that is the realm of hotels. I think there is a checkbox somewhere that says enhanced fideleo, or something along those lines? Maybe that is what they are wanting you to turn off?

I am not following. Are you moving from the COMTROL to a SIM? To a Fidelio SIM or is it another PMS provider?
What is the new setup? POS - 3700 PMS -?

Is COMTROL what micros calls the SIM-less PMS setup? While I've set up a ton of interfaces that have third party services they talk to, none of them were a PMS. They were integrations into third party systems.

Fair enough Wildbar. I'll lay it out here:

Existing setup is a MICROS 9700 interfacing with Opera via a Fidelio interface server over TCP/IP.

I am moving to another PMS which utilizes COMTROL for its interfacing.

I setup an interface entry on my 9700 and pointed it to the COMTROL interface and then programmed a button to use the second interface (meanwhile my other stations operate with the Opera Fidelio interface with no interruption, so no down time). The "Interface Type" I put in EMC was PMS/SIM.

When looking at the data coming in from the 9700 to COMTROL, the tech I was on the line with (from the new PMS company) said the data was not formatted correctly, and that my 9700 was trying to "speak" using the Fidelio protocol. He then mentioned that I will need someone from MICROS to resolve this.

I was advised by one tech that I simply need to omit the .isl file from the interface record in MICROS, and then it would start using the "standard Micros POS interface". That didn't work.

Thanks for your help!

Oh man. I've been assuming 3700 this entire time. Time for me to bow out.. sorry.. I've only worked with Simphony 2 and 3700..

Alright, looks that the mystery is now solved for the most part. The setting that determines if the transaction is going to use ISL and Fidelio is within the Tender section. Option is "Use ISL TMED Procedure Instead of PMS Interface". If that is not checked, it uses the standard MICROS interface.
