Non-Epson Inks for Epson 880 Printer

Has anyone used non-Epson inks w/ a Stylus Color 880? I have heard rumours that non-OEM inks can ruin some Epson printers. I use mine for some heavy-duty graphics applications, and can't afford to have it break down or give me inferior performance due to ink. But the Epson inks are killing me with cost - so if there is a truly viable alternative, I will be stoked!

If anyone can answer definitively, perhaps even with a replacement ink brand recommendation, I would be much obliged.

I use non-Epson ink for my Stylus Color 600. I'm in the UK and got them from

We ordered some non-epson ink from a local dealer (southern california) for work after agonizing about ruining the printers! Well, it didn't ruin the printer, but the quality was soooo bad we returned them. Black was gray -- there were missing spots on the page, etc.

The wierdest thing was that we only changed the black cartridge, but the color cartridge got all screwed up (it was NOT running out of ink)! It streaked and printed more yellow than anything else. Ended up having to buy a new epson color cartridge too!
