non-descriptive sybase central error

Hello Everyone

I have installed ASIQ 12.5 onto a Redhat ES machine and have
created a database on a raw device. i can isql into the
databse just fine and run queries like sp_iqstatus, but when
I try to connect to the databse in sybase Central, I get the
following error message:

sybase.scp.sa.so.TopRSO

dblocate confirms the the server is running and that I am
using the right port.
Any ideas?
