non boot cd, run setup in DOS and get this message 1

hi, Im tring to install win2k advanced server on a box which previously contained WinXp Pro. Becaus e the cd is not bootable auto, i load in Dos and try and run setup.exe or 'setup' and i get msg 'program cannot be run in DOS'

what is going on here. ??

Don't know how you're trying to start the setup but
the usual way to do it is to create bootdisks from the 2000 cd...

But if you go into the i386 directory on the cd and type the command:

winnt

then the setup should start... ~ The day I think I know it all, i'm changing careers ~
