Hello all - I'm trying to figure out if there is a FAC or button assignment I can give to my attendants so they can look up the IP address of an extension. We have users who move all over our campus, logging in to IP phones. I can provide the attendant with our IP ranges, and where on campus these blocks are located. This way, if someone calls 911, the attendant could look up the IP address of that extension, figure out where they are located, and direct internal responders to the location. We are already passing along the location data to External responders - but Crisis Alert is limited to name and extension.

booman,

You need to implement Redsky Technologies E911 Anywhere software solution which uses a real time network discovery to detect IP phone registration movement based on LAN switch port location.

Yeah - that is our long term solution, but we may not be able to do it until this summer. I'm trying to avoid either giving the attendants ASA just so they can look up the IP address, or having their process be to find someone in Telecom with ASA who can look it up for them. We have the switch ports segregated by geographic regions, and I can give them that breakdown. Just have to figure out an easy way to get them the caller's IP address...

booman,

Short of using ASA to status a station, I know of know other way to obtain an IP address of a H323 phone.

You can also use a subscription server. The phones will send Extension, IP, and MAC to the subscription server when registering to the PBX. You can also send a resubscribe message to the phone from the Trusted Push Server (can be the same server). I used Apache Tomcat/JSP/Postgres to take the data from the phone and dump it into a database table. I then set up a web page to show the data of my registered phones.
