A laptop in the office has a wireless Netgear card, but it will not login a user unless it is an administrator. Signal is good. Any solutions?

1) What's the error?
2) Is this laptop the only workstation on the network having this problem?
3) When you say it lets an administrator logon, are you talking "locally" onto the laptop or as an admin onto the network?

Do not use the client adapter software. Use the native XP Wireless Zero Configuration resouce.

If you have no other choice but the client software for the wireless adapter (please check the web site for newer drivers), then let my tell you why the Administrator can work, and possible workarounds for the issue.

Explanation:
The client adapter software is requiring that a service entry be made, and a limited user is not permitted to make a new service entry, or to modify existing services.

Workaround:

. Use Task Scheduler. Once you define a task that calls the client adapter software, you can modify the Task Properties to set a Schedule for 'at Startup.' You pass the administrator credentials as an alternate username and password.

1. there is no error
2. the laptop is the only workstation that is having this problem and the only machine using a card. The other machines are using a wireless USB adapter.
3.It will let the user logon to the network domain, but all resources are not available(printers, shared folders, etc).

The signal strength is good, the card does see the router, but the router does not see the laptop, unless it is logged on as an administrator.

I am not familiar with which client adapter software my server uses. It is running Windows Server 2003.

It is not server-side, but client-side as an issue.
